Dubai International Airport, United Arab Emirates

Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB, ICAO: OMDB) is the largest international airport in the world. Located in Al Garhoud district, 4 km (2.5 miles) southeast of Dubai. The airport is the headquarters of the international airline of Dubai, Emirates and Emirates SkyCargo, Emirates is the central hub, the largest airline in the Middle East, Emirates is handling 60% of all passenger traffic, and accounted for 38% of all aircraft movements at the airport. In July 2010, there were more than 6,000 weekly flights operated by 130 airlines to over 220 destinations in every continent except Antarctica.

In 2010, Dubai International Airport handles a record 47.2 million in passenger traffic, an increase of 15.4% during fiscal 2009. When ranked with other airports in the world, Dubai International airport located on the rank - 4 of the world's busiest airports by international passenger traffic and ranks - 8 busiest cargo airport in the world to serve 2.27 million tonnes of cargo in 2010 , an increase of 17.8% compared with the previous year. Total commercial aircraft movements in 2010 as many as 292,662 flights.

To serve the movement of passengers, then in October 2008 opened Terminal 3, exclusively for the use of Emirates Airline. While the Concourse 3 is planned to be completed in 2012, exclusively for Emirates Airbus A380. Terminal 3 is the world's largest single building with floor space and can accommodate 62 million passengers.

The history of civil aviation in Dubai began in July 1937 when an agreement was signed air flight. At that time, the airline which operates the Imperial Airways and The Empire Flying Boats.

Terminal 1
Terminal 1 has a total capacity of 30 million passengers. This terminal is used by 75 airlines and connect with Concourse 1. In the terminal 1 are 221 check - in counter with a separate section for regular and business class passengers. Terminal arrival in Terminal 1 there are 40 desks for passport control.


Concourse 1
Concourse 1 at the Terminal 1, opened in 2000 and became the main concourse at the international airport before Concourse 2 at Dubai's Terminal 3 is opened. It includes more than 60 gates, including 32 bridges and 48 remote gates air.

Concourse environment equipped with cafes and restaurants, Food Court, 78 deluxe 5 star hotel with 6 junior suites and 2 royal suites, business center, health club, shopping facilities 5400 m2 (58,000 sq ft) duty-free. Other facilities include prayer space.

Terminal 2
Terminal 2 was built in 1998, and has a capacity of 5 million people in 2009. This terminal is used by smaller airlines operating in the Persian Gulf region. Most flights operate to Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. There are 36 check-in counter and is used by around 26 airlines.

Terminal 3
Terminal 3 was built at a cost of U.S. $ 4.5 billion, exclusively for Emirates and has a maximum capacity of 43 million passengers. This terminal will have a 5 door Airbus A380 in Concourse 2, and will have 18 in Concourse 3. Spacious terminal building 3 more than 1.5 million square meters (370 hectares). Currently, terminal 3 is able to handle 27 million passengers a year but once fully operational will be able to accommodate 43 million passengers per year.

Terminal 3 is equipped with 97 escalators, eight skytrains (4 each on Arrival and Departure), 157 lifts, and 27 lift truck. This building includes a multi-level underground structure, first and business class lounges, restaurants, 180 check-in counters and 2600 car parking lot.

In the departure area there are 126 check-in counters for economy class passengers, and 36 for first and business class passengers. Also, there are 18 self service kiosks, 3 lounges for minors unaccompanied, 38 counters and 12 e-gates for Economy-class passengers and 10 counters and 4 e-gates for First and Business class on immigration.

While in the area of arrival, terminal 3 contains the fruit of 52 immigration counters, 14 baggage turn lane, and 12 e-gates (Passport Electronic Control System) is used at all entrances into the United Arab Emirates. Since its opening in October 2008, the terminal has handled more than 197,920 flight movements (arrival and departure), 50 million passengers and about 70 million pieces of luggage. Currently around 85,000 passengers pass through this terminal every day.
