The Channel Tunnel. Very spectacular. The Channel Tunnel was in the Straits of Dover and the linking between Folkenstone, Kent in England with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais, northern France. American Society of Civil Engineers in 1996, this tunnel has been named as one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

The idea to build a connecting road between the British with European plains actually been around since the year 1802. But the idea was just beginning pioneered in 1988 and finally materialized in 1994. The first person to submit a proposal making of the Channel Tunnel is a French mining engineer named Albert Mathieu in 1802. While the first person to perform geological surveys and hidografis in the Channel, between Calais and Dover is Thome de Gamond in 1830.
